Will Gov. Scott Veto Tuition Hike?
Colleges and universities statewide are eager to see whether Gov. Rick Scott will veto the 3 percent tuition increase that the Florida Legislature approved recently. … Don O’Shea, the president of New College of Florida, a publicly-funded honors college in Sarasota, said he would not be surprised if Scott vetoes the tuition increase. If Scott does veto it, O’Shea said he will not pursue any tuition increase for 2013-14. “If he does not veto the increase,” O’Shea said, “I will recommend to our board [of trustees] that we seek the 3 percent approved by the Legislature. Any other course would be irresponsible.”
