Two philanthropy directors join Foundation
The New College Foundation has appointed two new directors of philanthropy: Declan J. Sheehy and Marcia Crawley.
In their new positions, Sheehy and Crawley are responsible for creating and implementing engagement strategies for alumni and friends to secure resources for the College.
“We’re very pleased to welcome Marcia and Declan to our leadership team,” said MaryAnne Young, the Foundation’s vice president of advancement and executive director. “They each bring a new level of experience, initiative and knowledge to the Foundation at the perfect time.”
Sheehy has served in the nonprofit world for the past 15 years. Most recently, he was the senior advancement officer at the Bishop Museum of Science and Nature. Previously, he was the associate director of development at The Ringling, and assistant director of the Smith Fund at Smith College.
Sheehy is the state president of Florida Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy and serves on the board of the Charitable Gift Planners of Southwest Florida. He is a graduate of the Dublin Institute of Technology in Ireland, with diplomas in communications studies.
Crawley is the proud parent of a New College graduate and joins New College, she said, with a “built-in passion for its mission.” She brings years of expertise in development, and most recently served as a consulting vice president with Grenzebach, Glier and Associates—a philanthropic consulting firm.
She previously held leadership roles in development in the arts and higher education, including at Michigan State University. Crawley is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a degree in business management.
Su Byron is the communications specialist for the New College Foundation.
