Two alums named to New College Board of Trustees
New College of Florida welcomes two alumni, Ronald Christaldi and Mary Ruiz, to its Board of Trustees, following their appointments by the Florida State University System Board of Governors on October 30, 2019, subject to Senate confirmation.
Ruiz, who graduated from New College in 1978, is the former CEO of Centerstone of Florida and now heads her own consulting firm Ruiz Strategic Advisors. She replaces Audrey Coleman, who stepped down from her role due to health issues, and will serve on the Board through Jan. 6, 2021. Ruiz previously served as a trustee from 2011 to 2016.
Christaldi, who graduated from New College in 1993, is a partner in the law firm Shumaker, Loop and Kendrick, LLP and president/CEO of Shumaker Advisors Florida LLC. His five-year term on the Board begins Jan. 6, 2020.
“We look forward to welcoming two distinguished alumni to our Board of Trustees,” New College President Donal O’Shea says. “Both bring a wealth of management experience to our Board and deep personal connections to the college.”
Felice Schulaner, Chair of the New College Board of Trustees, adds: “I am thrilled to have Ms. Ruiz and Mr. Christaldi on our Board. They both have had extraordinarily successful careers and attribute their success, in part, to their New College experience. I know they will contribute greatly to our efforts.”
