Small Plane Crashes Near Sarasota Airport; One Dead
One person was killed and another badly burned when an experimental plane crashed and caught fire east of the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport shortly after 3 p.m. today, according to witnesses at the scene. The plane crashed in a wooded area on the west side of New College of Florida’s campus. Witnesses said the pilot of the plane was killed and a passenger was burned and flown by helicopter to an area hospital.
