Skestos Reappointed to Board of Trustees

Longboat Key resident George A. Skestos was reappointed today to the New College of Florida Board of Trustees by the Florida Board of Governors for the State University System. His term begins immediately and runs through January 6, 2018. The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
Skestos was first appointed to the board in June 2012 to complete the term of the late J. Robert Peterson. Skestos is the founder of Homewood Corp., a residential building company based in Columbus, Ohio, and a U.S. Navy veteran. He served on the Ohio State University Board of Trustees for nine years, including one year as president. Skestos also served as chairman of the University East Hospital Board.
Skestos is a native of Owosso, Mich., and relocated to Longboat Key in 2000. He earned his bachelor’s degree (BA), master’s degree in business administration (MBA), bachelor of laws (LLB) and law degree (JD) from the University of Michigan.
The other New College trustees are Bradford Baker, Rick Coe (chair of the faculty), Audrey R. Coleman, Robert M. Johnson, William R. Johnston (board chair), Elaine M. Keating, Daniel Ducassi (student government president), Keith D. Monda (board vice-chair), Mary Ruiz (alumna), John W. Saputo, Felice Schulaner (alumna) and Steven Snyder.
