New College is continuing to monitor Hurricane Helene as it approaches Florida. In addition to the measures communicated in the September 24 update, please be aware of the following:

Facilities Management, Campus Police, and other critical operations staff have been hard at work preparing for the storm. Thank you to many of our students who volunteered to assist with storm preparations as well. The New College campus is a safe place for students who intend to stay through the storm.

Students staying on campus will continue to receive messages regarding residential life and dining services specific to their housing locations. Please continue to monitor your email for these messages. Additionally, bottled waters will be delivered to dorm lounges during the day today.

Tropical storm conditions are expected, and hurricane conditions are still possible for our area. Once these weather conditions arrive, you must remain indoors for your safety. After the storm passes, critical operations staff will assess the campus for damage and potential safety hazards and will update the campus. This process is expected to be completed Friday morning. At no time during or immediately after the storm should students or non-critical staff explore the campus or attempt to visit the Bayfront. Even after the wind and rain subsides, dangers from windblown debris and other possible hazards may still be present.

As a reminder, normal business operations for non-critical and non-essential personnel, as well as classes for students and faculty, will resume on Monday, September 30.

Additional updates will continue to be relayed via email, on NCF.edu, through NCF social media channels, and the Mighty Banyan Safe app.
