NOW Ensemble Will Open New Music New College Season With New Music, and Dance
When a chamber music ensemble is made up of electric guitar, clarinet, flute, bass and piano, there’s not exactly a large catalog of existing music from the classical canon. The NOW Ensemble, founded in 2004 by a group of students at the Yale School of Music, solved the problem by incorporating composers within its ranks. “We had a few goals. One was to create an ensemble that was dedicated to creating and performing new music, but also an ensemble where composers and performers would be continuously creating and collaborating,” said Mark Dancigers, a composer and electric guitarist and co-founder of the ensemble.
