New College Students to Network with Area’s Top CEOs
New College students will have the opportunity to network with more than 40 local leaders on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 5:30 p.m. at Robarts Arena.
In its third year, “Mind the Gap” offers local college students the opportunity to change the course of their future by exploring different career paths while networking with leaders in the community. By participating in hands-on tracks such as resume review and speed mentoring, students will get a head start on building their professional network.
“Whether you are still deciding on a career path or looking for a job after you graduate, Mind the Gap is beneficial for all New College students,” says Maddie Heath, Assistant Director of Career Technology and Outreach for The Center for Career Engagement and Opportunity.
To prepare for the event, New College is offering speed networking drop-in sessions on Oct. 29 from 2-4 p.m. where the center will assist students with their networking skills.
It’s been a busy week for The Center for Career Engagement and Opportunity, who recently launched Handshake, a one-stop-shop tool that connects students and employers. Students are encouraged to create a Handshake account at ncf.joinhandshake.com and register for “Mind the Gap.” There will be an New College van reserved for those that need transportation to the event.
“Mind the Gap” is sponsored by the Gulf Coast CEO Forum and promoted by the Cross College Alliance.
Robarts Arena is located at the Sarasota County Fairgrounds, at 3000 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota.
