New College of Florida Receives Grant from the Catlin Fund at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County

December 12, 2012—The Kathleen K. Catlin Advised Fund at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County has awarded New College of Florida a $10,000 grant to upgrade its lighting equipment in the Mildred Sainer Pavilion. Dozens of public events are hosted at Sainer Pavilion each year, covering topics such as politics, health care, natural and environmental science, local history, music, arts and culture. The pavilion is also rented out to the community, allowing for a multitude of organizations to benefit from the space.

New College will now be able to equip Sainer Pavilion with professional-grade lighting, not only enhancing the experience for thousands of audience attendees, but also paving the way for recordings and future broadcast and streaming to all of Sarasota County.
“We’re thrilled to be able to offer professional lighting quality not only for our own audiences but also for other organizations that use the space,” said Jake Hartvigsen, New College’s Director of Communications and Marketing. “Eventually, it is our hope to be able to record programs in high definition video and re-feed them via broadcast and online.”
The Catlin Advised Fund was established to respond to community needs and contribute to the quality of life in Sarasota County.
