New College Names Kristie Harris as Associate VP for Administration

New College of Florida has named Kristie Harris as the College’s first associate vice president for administration.
Harris began work at New College on May 21. She previously served as director of university budgets for the State University System of Florida, beginning in 2008, after joining the SUS as senior budget analyst in 2005. She previously held accounting and budget positions at Florida State University and the Leon County Office of Management and Budget from 2000 to 2005.
At New College, Harris will be responsible for oversight of the College’s budgets, including preparation and administration of the College’s annual operating budget throughout the year and preparation of legislative budget requests.  Harris will work closely with John Martin, vice president for finance and administration, and Kim Bendickson-Diem, associate vice president for finance and controller, to transition the many budget duties and responsibilities.
Harris will also provide executive leadership to several units within Finance & Administration, including Information Technology, Campus Police, and Emergency Management.  Other duties include overseeing acquisition of land and management of property leases, serving as the College’s liaison with the shared campus bookstore, and assisting in staffing Board of Trustees committees and the New College Development Corporation Board.
Harris has two degrees from Florida State University, a bachelor of science in finance and a master of science in public administration, with emphasis in public financial management and budgeting.
