New College of Florida has been named a standout institution in The Princeton Review’s The Best 386 Colleges guide for 2021 (for the 29th year in a row).
Since 1992—the inaugural publication year of the guide—New College has been showcased among the nation’s most esteemed colleges for undergraduate academics. The Princeton Review highlights schools that its editors recommend to college applicants and their parents, and only about 14 percent of America’s 2,800 four-year colleges are featured in the book.
“We salute New College for its outstanding academics and we are truly pleased to recommend it to prospective applicants searching for their personal ‘best-fit’ college,” said Robert Franek, The Princeton Review‘s editor-in-chief and the lead author of the book.
Published by Penguin Random House in mid-August, the book is based on data collected from administrators at hundreds of colleges about their institutions’ academic offerings. The Princeton Review also considers data it gathers from its surveys of college students who rate and report on various aspects of their campus and community experiences.
The company does not rank the colleges in the book from one to 386. Instead, it reports 62 ranking lists of top-20 schools in various categories, such as “Best Career Services,” “Great Financial Aid” and “Professors Get High Marks.” The rankings in this edition are based on the company’s surveys of 143,000 students at the 386 schools in the book.
“Best Colleges” has been featured on NBC’s TODAY more than a dozen times, and referenced by reporters in publications from Inside Higher Education to The Wall Street Journal.
