New College Foundation Board of Trustees Member Samuel Hamad Passes Away
New College Foundation lost board member Samuel Hamad on December 15, 2008. Hamad was elected to the Foundation board in May of 2008.
Hamad was the director of marketing for Pfizer in New York in 1973 and joined Bristol-Myers Squibb as vice president in 1983, becoming president of divisions in Canada, Asia/Australia and later, Europe. He ran their international division from 1992 until his retirement in 1998 at the age of 55.
Hamad continued to work as an industry consultant and real estate developer in Sarasota, where he helped build and conceive projects that were part of the revitalization of the downtowns of Sarasota and Bradenton.
Hamad’s wife of 43 years, Renee, serves on the New College Library Association Board.
