New College Appoints Mark St. Louis as General Counsel
New College of Florida has named Mark St. Louis, an attorney with experience in higher education, human resources and management, as its general counsel, effective July 1.
St. Louis comes to New College from Stetson University College of Law, where he was manager of the university’s Center for Excellence in Higher Education Law and Policy. “Mark has broad experience across the range of legal issues in higher education,” said John Martin, vice president for finance and administration at New College. Martin cited St. Louis’ work in personnel management, education records privacy, student affairs and campus law enforcement.
From 2001 to 2008, St. Louis served as a human resources specialist with the Michigan Army National Guard while completing his undergraduate studies. He was deployed to Kuwait from 2006 to 2007 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also was an intern with the emergency management division of the Michigan State Police in 2004.
St. Louis received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 2005, his master’s degree in business administration from Baker College in 2008 and his law degree from Stetson University in 2012. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in October 2012.
