Friday, September 27, 3:00 p.m. Update

NCF Community,

The campus has weathered Hurricane Helene well thanks to the diligent preparation of our community. Thank you to critical members of our residential life team and the Campus Police who remained active on campus during the storm, and to NCF Hospitality for ensuring a variety of food options were available for students ahead of the storm’s arrival and to all others who were so helpful throughout this storm.

We are well positioned for classes and all business operations to resume at 8 a.m. on Monday, September 30.

Student Housing:

Students who elected to voluntarily evacuate may return to their dorm at any time today, over the weekend, or Monday morning.

On-Campus Dining:

The Hamilton Center Dining Hall reopened this morning with a brunch and dinner schedule identical to weekend operations. Saturday and Sunday hours will follow the typical brunch and dinner schedule.

Mama G’s at the Four Winds Café will reopen for regular hours on Monday, September 30.

Campus Safety:

While we understand the desire to get outside and explore after a storm, please avoid any of the campus’s waterfront areas. Storm surge was significant across Robertson Park, the College Hall Lawn, and the Caples Waterfront, and significant amounts of debris are being removed. Thank you for your patience while these spaces are restored for safe use.

Student Amenities:

Recreational areas in Hamilton Center are open and available to use. We are working to reopen the Recreation Center, which will resume its normal hours on Saturday, September 28. The Library will reopen Saturday and maintain its normal operating hours this weekend.

As noted above, students should not come to the waterfront until damage assessment, cleanup, and recession of elevated water levels are complete. An update will be provided when this space reopens.

Staff and Faculty Return:

We understand each individual has experienced different storm-related circumstances. If storm damage may prevent you from returning to work as scheduled when operations resume on Monday morning, please notify your Supervisor as soon as possible.

Thank you.
