[Education] Tuition Deal Offered by Universities
Could a tuition increase be avoided at the University of South-Florida Sarasota-Manatee or at New College of Florida this year? Gov. Rick Scott has called for schools to hold student costs low. University presidents responded on Wednesday with a commitment to hold tuition rates if lawmakers can budget an extra $118 million in the State University System. “Time and again, our University System has proven its ability to provide some of the greatest returns on investments for the State of Florida,” said State University System Chancellor Frank T. Brogan. The offer was announced at a press conference in Tallahassee with a number of university presidents and student representatives, including New College President Donal O’Shea and Student Body President Michael Long.
