Critiques that Help, Not Hurt
It was just days after 9/11 when young choreographer Leymis Bolaños-Wilmott showcased the beginnings of a new work for a few friends and acquaintances. Among the observers were Rachael Inman and her husband; Inman would later become the co-founder with Bolaños-Wilmott of Sarasota’s contemporary dance company, Fuzión Dance Artists. […] It was an example of how a spontaneous and simple observation can be of benefit to an emerging choreographer. That is one of the motivating factors behind Fuzión’s “In the Round” performance at New College this weekend, an experimental concert that will incorporate feedback from the audience and a panel of knowledgeable adjudicators who will respond to a number of completed and in-progress works by emerging choreographers.
