Classic Car Museum in Sarasota Pleads for Space
Sarasota Classic Car Museum, known for its collection of more than 75 classic automobiles has occupied a spot on the Tamiami Trail in North Sarasota for 60 years but has been asked to move. Museum supporters are trying to bring the issue to the attention of lawmakers. The nonprofit museum showcases its automobiles in a space owned by the New College of Florida, which is now asking the museum to find a new space, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune said. Facing possible eviction, Museum Director Martin Godbey said the reason the college is forcing it out is because it’s seeking a $300,000 maintenance grant from the state for the space.
