Statement by New College of Florida on campus improvements and ecological management:

New College is currently establishing a new grass field and sand volleyball courts on the Bayfront Campus that will benefit our students and the greater community. This work has included the extraction of healthy cabbage palms, which are being transplanted to the Caples Campus.

There have been numerous campus beautification efforts over the last 12 months, several of which have already been completed and more that will be finalized before the Fall term. All of these projects have included consultations with environmental and biological experts to ensure the environmental footprint of New College is enhanced.

One example of the successful ecological efforts completed over the last several months has been the removal of invasive species on the bayfront that were destroying the protected mangroves. As a result, the mangroves are now growing and thriving.

We are grateful for the support of our community as we prepare our campus for new opportunities to come.
