Buchanan to Hold Forum on Reforming the Tax Code
What better time to talk about the IRS than tax season? That will be the case Friday when U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan holds a meeting to discuss ways to fix the tax code, including proposals to abolish the IRS. Buchanan, R-Longboat Key, said he is not advocating a specific approach, but instead wants to pursue a conversation about how to make the tax code simpler and fairer. Buchanan’s meeting at New College of Florida will include advocates for a plan to eliminate all income taxes for a national sales tax, another that would create one income tax rate without exemptions and yet another that would call for keeping the current system while boosting tax rates for the wealthy.
