George Maxman is a distinguished violinist, conductor, composer, and educator whose career spans multiple continents. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at prestigious venues, including the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Sydney Opera House, Tonhalle Zürich, and Shanghai Concert Hall. Serving as Concertmaster and Guest Conductor of Symphony Nova Scotia, Maxman led acclaimed performances and recordings, while also serving as Acting Assistant Concertmaster of the Houston Symphony and performing with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. His leadership as Concertmaster and Guest Conductor of the Shanghai Philharmonic has significantly impacted the global classical music scene.
Maxman is also a dedicated educator, having taught at the University of Sydney, Clark University, Houston Baptist University, and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Through his music studio, he has mentored numerous successful musicians, many of whom now study at prestigious institutions like Juilliard and the Royal Academy of Music. As a composer, Maxman’s works include the opera Rasputin and the ballets The Goddess of Mercy and The Four Beauties, commissioned by the Hong Kong Dance Company. Trained under legendary teachers Yuri Yankelevich, Boris Belenky, and David Oistrakh, Maxman continues to inspire musicians worldwide.
