Professor Zamsky Receives Florida Humanities Council Grant
New College of Florida Assistant Professor of English Robert Zamsky received a grant from the Florida Humanities Council (FHC) to support the project, “Florida’s Caribbean Poetics,” which will focus on the historical and contemporary literary relationships between Florida and the Caribbean.
The results of this research will be presented to the general public at the Selby Library in January 2009 with involvement from New College students.
Zamsky has a doctorate from the University of New York at Buffalo. His current work considers how theories of sound and performance construe the social and political work of poetry.
The Florida Humanities Council is an independent, non-profit organization and is the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Each year, FHC funds hundreds of public programs throughout the state that explore Florida’s history, folklore, environment, literature, music and art.
