New College Alumna Samantha Samson Wins Hebrew University Photo Contest
New College of Florida 2009 graduate Samantha Samson recently was selected as the winner of the second-annual CRISPEE (Contest RIS Photo Exhibit Extravaganza) Photo Contest sponsored by the Rothberg International School of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
As the winner of the contest, Samson’s photo entitled “Bulletin” (pictured at left, courtesy of Hebrew University) is one of three featured in the fall issue of Presentense magazine, which was released earlier this month.
Samantha, who currently is on kibbutz in Ein Gev, spent summers in 2006 and 2009 studying Hebrew language at the Rothberg School through a study abroad program arranged through New College. She drew inspiration from one of the school’s campus bulletin boards, freshly “cleaned” of messages and notes from students and faculty, as inspiration for her prize winning shot.
Samantha graduated from New College in May 2009 with a degree in religion.
