New College Juried Student Art Exhibition Opens at Isermann Gallery

Painting, sculpture, drawing and printmaking work from 20 New College art students will be on display in the fifth annual New College of Florida Juried Student Art Exhibition, opening Monday, Feb. 4, and running through March 29. Juror Michael Wyshock, professor of fine arts at Ringling College of Art and Design, will present awards and speak at the opening reception, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7.
The show celebrates the scope and talent of work from New College students, including Kyra Berman-Gestring, Cassidy Bingham, Nicole Cardenas, Isabelle Duvall, Fabienne Elie, Lara Grauerholz-Fisher, Marissa Herman, Cayle Judge, Samantha Kreeger, Jessie Leasure, Emily Martin, Fusha Mitchell, Paige Rawitz, Diana V. Siegel, Madhuri Shukla, Jeanine Tatlock, Stephanie Tonneson, Nathan Wilson, Alex Wyllie and Rachael Zucker.
The work awarded first place will become part of the New College permanent collection and will be displayed on campus, and the artist will receive $300. There also will be prizes for second and third place, and three honorable mentions, with awards provided through a donation from Sarasota Art & Frame.
The exhibition is free and open to the public from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in Isermann Gallery, located in the Caples Fine Arts Complex at 5313 Bay Shore Road, Sarasota. Directions: At the intersection of U.S. 41 and University Parkway, turn west toward the Ringling Museum, then left at Bay Shore Road. Isermann Gallery is located behind Mildred Sainer Pavilion. Michael Wyshock is professor of art at Ringling College. He has exhibited his work around the world, including shows in London, Madrid, Paris, Copenhagen and Mexico City. His work has been supported by many grants and awards, including: Pollock Krasner Award, Vermont Studio Center Full Fellowship, Delaware Division of the Arts Individual Artist Award, State University of New York Research Council Award and many others. He is a graduate of the University of Delaware and Florida State University.
