A contingent of 19 Florida college presidents on Monday called on Congress to pass meaningful immigration reform. The presidents, which represent public and private institutions, hope lawmakers will allow international students to stay in the U.S. after graduation, thus contributing to Florida’s economy. Immigration policy now requires many graduates to return to their homelands after their student visas expire, so regions cannot recoup their investments in educating international students. […] Others who signed the letter include presidents of the University of South Florida, New College of Florida, Florida International University and the University of Miami.
