College Hosts International Careers Seminar

The United Nations Association-USA Young Professionals chapter of Sarasota-Manatee and New College’s International Studies Program are hosting the fourth annual International Career Development Seminar on Saturday, November 2.
The event brings a slate of representatives from the United Nations, the U.S. State Department, international business, international music and arts, computer technology, and international nonprofits to campus to introduce students to international career opportunities and explain how they can build careers in the global market.
Participating speakers include John Ericson, Chief of Outreach, Office of Human Resources Management, United Nations; Jean E. Manes, U.S. Foreign Service Diplomatic Corps, Department of State; Dr. David Gillman, New College assistant professor of computational science and former senior architect, Akamai Technologies;  Mena A. Cammett, senior international risk management analyst, XL Group; Richard Russell, executive director, Sarasota Opera; Dr. Nat Colletta, New College adjunct professor of international studies; and Morgan Weinberg, student and founder of Little Footprints Big Steps, a nonprofit relief organization in Haiti.
Dr. Barbara Hicks, New College professor of political science and director of the International Studies Program, is co-chair of the program.
The seminar is from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sudakoff Conference Center. Admission is free for the first 75 New College students. Admission is $10 for other college and high school students and $15 for others, and includes lunch and a reception.
