New College to Participate in 2018 Giving Challenge, May 1-2, Noon to Noon
New College of Florida – through its fundraising arm, the New College Foundation – will once again participate in the Giving Challenge, a 24-hour online campaign presented by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and supported by The Patterson Foundation. All proceeds will support student scholarships, student and faculty research, and other important institutional needs at Florida’s public honors college for the liberal arts.
The 2018 Challenge is set for May 1 and 2, from noon to noon. During that time, The Patterson Foundation will match every unique individual gift between $25 and $100, regardless of whether an individual has made a gift in a prior Giving Challenge, or has already given to New College this year. The minimum gift is $25.
Beginning on May 1 at noon, gifts must be made online at www.givingpartnerchallenge.org. Donors should select “New College Foundation” as their designated organization, and complete the online form. Only major credit and debit cards are accepted, and all gifts are 100 percent tax-deductible.
The New College Foundation is accepting advance pledges, which can be made online at www.ncf.edu/giving-challenge, or by calling the Foundation at 941-487-4800. All advance information will be held in a secure location until the Challenge begins, at which time Foundation staff will enter the information on the donor’s behalf.
Supporters who have a donor-advised fund at a participating community foundation may schedule an offline donation by calling their foundation contact. The following foundations are participating: The Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Manatee Community Foundation, and Gulf Coast Community Foundation.
“The 2018 Giving Challenge is the focus of the New College Fund’s spring campaign,” said MaryAnne Young, executive director of the New College Foundation. “All funds raised before the close of our fiscal year (on June 30) will impact the resources we are able to provide to the College for the 2018-19 academic year. We are really counting on our supporters – alumni, community friends, parents, faculty and staff—to rally behind the Giving Challenge as they did so generously in the past.”
The Giving Challenge was last held in September 2016. That campaign set a new standard for generosity, when more than $134 million was raised to benefit more than 559 nonprofits. New College raised nearly $63,000, and with the match, netted more than $120,000.
This year, gifts to New College will be effectively tripled, as the Johnston Family Fund, established by New College of Florida Trustee Bill Johnston and his wife Betsy, is also matching all gifts up to $100. That is in addition to match from the The Patterson Foundation.
Only nonprofit organizations who have demonstrated transparency with a current published profile on The Giving Partner are eligible to participate in the Giving Challenge. A profile of New College can be found at: http://thegivingpartner.guidestar.org/Nonprofit?orgId=1117809
