Talent meets opportunity at New College’s Handshake launch
The Center for Career Engagement and Opportunity at New College is launching Handshake this week. Starting on Monday, CEO staff will be helping students sign up on the career development platform.
Handshake is a one-stop shop career management site that connects students with employers from across the country.
“With our app, students can tell us what locations they would like to live and work in, what industries are you passionate about, what student organizations are you a member of,” Handshake co-founder Garrett Lord told the The Mercury News in an interview last fall. “We will then curate based on background, major, minor and so forth. With Handshake, it’s a personalized, friendly, career-seeking journey.”
CEO staff will be stationed in front of the Student Activities and Campus Engagement office throughout the week to help students. They will also be at the Hamilton Center reopening on Monday, Oct. 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Students can also visit NCF.JoinHandshake.com, or stop by the CEO for assistance during regular hours of operation. The CEO is located at LBR 154 next to the walkway to east campus. New College alumni/ae are also eligible for a Handshake account through the College. Interested alumni should call 941-487-5002 for assistance.
The CEO will post additional information about the Handshake rollout on the New College Facebook and Twitter pages using the hashtag #NCFhandshake.
