Danielle Dygert was born and raised in Sarasota, so she’s not sure exactly what to expect as she prepares for one of the coldest winters of her life.
The visual artist is leaving on a six-month trip across the country that will have her living in a tent in national parks and forests as she tries to capture the spirit of the nation during the time of COVID-19. She plans to capture that feeling in a 90-foot mural that will be unveiled in a show back home in Sarasota next April.
The 27-year-old, who earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts with a minor in classics from New College of Florida, has spent the last few years working as Artist Liaison for The Ringling Underground series, and, more recently, as exhibitions and marketing coordinator at Art Center Sarasota.
