Student Success Center
The Student Success Center (SSC) offers various resources to support students’ academics. Student Success Coaching is a resource that provides 1:1 advice on a variety of student success strategies. Popular topics include: Time Management, Organization, Study Techniques, and Accountability. The SSC also provides Study Halls twice a week as a supportive study space. Come in to the SSC during our open hours to study or grab a coffee! All you need to do is sign in at the front desk.
The Writing Program
The Writing Program draws upon current research to create and support a cohesive set of innovative and intellectually rigorous Rhetoric and Writing courses as well as to develop dynamic resources for the entire campus community. One of those resources is the Writing Resource Center (WRC), located in LBR 132, where students can meet one-on-one with a Student Writing Assistant to receive support with any type of writing at any stage in their writing process. For more information, please reach out to [email protected].
New Student Programs
New Student Program facilitates both New Student Orientation and the Academic Coaching program at New College of Florida.
New Student Orientation is a multi-day event held for students who are admitted during the fall and spring terms. During Orientation, students are put into groups with an Orientation Leader (a returning student at New College) who leads them through a variety of sessions designed to aid students in making the transition to campus.
Academic Coaching is a student support service for all incoming students. Upon submitting your tuition deposit, students are assigned an Academic Coach who will support them from that time until the end of their first academic year. A student’s Academic Coach is there to support them on an individual basis as they navigate pre-registration for courses, access to campus resources, and success in the classroom.
Academic Resource Center
The Academic Resource Center (ARC) is a comprehensive tutoring service, offering students free tutoring in any discipline taught at New College including software (e.g. R, SAS, SPSS, Excel, and other applications). Tutoring is available one-on-one or in small groups and remotely or in person. The ARC succeeds the Quantitative Resource Center which offers tutoring in quantitative disciplines. To find tutors, including contact information and office hours, go to the ARC Schedule tile on the myNCF portal. The ARC is located in the library in LBR 119, and you can drop at any time.
