Graduate Application Information
- Graduate Application for the Master of Science in Marine Mammal Science program.
- Academic record (all post-secondary transcripts), with documentation of a bachelor’s degree (or a documented forth-coming degree) from an accredited US college of university (or the foreign equivalent, as determined by a NACES-member transcript evaluation service). Students with academic records from a non-US colleges or universities should arrange for a professional evaluation (and translation, if necessary) of their transcripts by a NACES-member service.
- Personal Statement with preferred area of interest.
- Letters of recommendation (2).
- *GRE scores are optional, but highly recommended (NCF’s GRE code is: 5506).
The following are preferred, but not required:
- Recent employment and/or academic experience (including fellowships, internships, research positions).
- Students who are not US citizens or US permanent Resident Aliens, and whose first language is not English, must provide proof of English proficiency. Typically, recent scores (within the past two years) will be required, as follows:
- 1. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): score of 83 or better on the TOEFL IbT, or 560 on the Paper-Based TOEFL; or,
- 2. International English Language Testing System (IELTS): score of 6.5 or better; or,
- 3. Recent records (within the past two years) of successful academic or professional work in a setting where English is the primary language in use may be considered as a substitute for the testing requirement.
The following are prerequisite undergraduate courses specific to each Masters Program:
- For Marine Mammal Science Program:
- Introduction to Statistics.
- Introduction to Biology or Ecology or Psychology.
- 2 upper-level Biology, Ecology, Psychology, or Statistics.
- Intro to Chemistry (preferred)
- For Data Science Program:
- Successful completion of a course in Linear Algebra (can be completed upon matriculation)
- Successful completion of a course in programming, or proof of programming proficiency (can be completed by matriculation)
- Candidates with missing documentation for these two requirements may receive a conditional acceptance.
Applications for the program open November 1st, with an early action deadline of December 1st and a regular application deadline of February 1st.
The final application deadline is June 15th (April 1st for international students). Students are admitted on a rolling, space available basis.
