Ranked in “Best Data Science Master’s Programs in 2022 through 2025” by Fortune Magazine
In a competitive field of on-line programs and large lectures, we keep our program small and in-person. Our expert faculty (many with industry experiences) work closely with each student and help them graduate into successful careers. Our students move together as a two-year cohort, building their first professional network. During the first three semesters, all students are on campus for two or three days a week, working together in small, challenging classes. The last semester consists of a full-time industry practicum.
With excellent job prospects and highly transferable skills across many industries and one of the lowest tuition, the MS in Applied Data Science at New College is a great return on your investment.
What do Students and Alumni Say?
Lauded by Fortune as one of the country’s “Best Master’s in Data Science” every year since 2022, and rising to #8 on the list for 2025, our two-year, in-person program blends interdisciplinary theory and practical application to guarantee that our students graduate with the industry knowledge, technical skills, and real-world experience necessary to embark upon successful careers.

“From the knowledgeable professors that pushed me to be my best with challenging
work, to the cohort system that taught me how to work in a team, the graduate program
at New College equipped me with not just technical skills, but also invaluable
collaboration, communication, and problem-solving abilities essential for success in the
workplace. This gave me a distinct advantage, ensuring I entered the workforce with a
competitive edge over my peers, ready to excel and contribute in the field.”

“I applied to the Data Science program to expand my toolkit working with data. I increased my confidence in computer programming and statistics, and was able to apply theoretical material in self-directed projects with my classmates. I expanded my network by meeting with alumni and bonding with my cohort over homework and group study sessions. At a high level, the program is job-focused but, in my experience, I learned strong problem-solving skills that can be applied across many projects in both work and life.”

“My favorite thing about the graduate program was the fact that it was a cohort-based education. We were all from different backgrounds. Me, coming from a math and economics background, I wasn’t the best programmer. So, I needed to lean on others around me to help me build those skills up and I used my math skills to help others who didn’t come with as much math. Being so close to my colleagues and professors was a really wonderful experience.”

“The graduate program at New College were some of the best years of my life. I learned technical skills that still enable me to work in modern and cloud based computing environments. Getting so much 1 on 1 time to work and talk with my professors made sure I always had resources and help when I needed it. Working with real businesses provided hands-on consulting experience and a broad exposure to the diverse practices and needs of clients.”
