Gordon Bauer, Professor Emeritus of Psychology, taught courses in biological psychology at New College of Florida for 26 years.  He was also Chair of the Division of Social Sciences.  He continues to study animal senses, cognition, and behavior in a variety of species including manatees, bottlenose dolphins, humpback whales, and sea turtles. In recent years he has focused on a broad survey of manatee senses, including vision, hearing, and touch.  He has also investigated magnetoreception by cetaceans and sea turtles, hearing by dolphins and sea turtles, imitation and synchronous behavior of dolphins, humpback whale behavior, memory of honeybees, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in humans.  His collaborative work on animal senses has emphasized psychophysical and neurobiological methods.
