Dependent/Spouse of Deceased/Disabled Veterans
If you are a Florida resident for tuition purposes, and your parent or spouse was killed or disabled due to a service-connected injury or disease, you may qualify for scholarship funding through the program “Scholarships for Children and Spouses of Deceased or Disabled Veterans and Servicemembers.”

Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program
If you are a Florida resident for tuition purposes, and your parent or guardian is on active military duty or serving on public service assignment outside the State of Florida, you may be eligible for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program. For additional eligibility details, and instructions for applying, click here.

If you’ve earned a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship and enlist in the US Armed Forces right out of high school, you may extend your initial eligibility period.  If you are currently receiving a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship, and leave school to enlist in the US Armed Forces, you may apply extend your renewal period. Florida National Guard
If you are an active member of the Florida National Guard, you may be eligible for a full or partial exemption of your tuition and fees through either Education Dollars for Duty (EDD) or the State Tuition Exemption Program (STEP).

Purple Heart or Another Combat Decoration Superior in Precedence
If you are a Florida resident for tuition purposes, and you have earned a Purple Heart (or another combat decoration superior in precedence), you may qualify for a waiver of tuition according to Florida Statute!

FS 1009.26(9)     
A state university or community college shall waive undergraduate tuition for each recipient of a Purple Heart or another combat decoration superior in precedence who:

(a)  Is enrolled as a full-time, part-time, or summer-school student in an undergraduate program that terminates in a degree or certificate;
(b)  Is currently, and was at the time of the military action that resulted in the awarding of the Purple Heart or other combat decoration superior in precedence, a resident of this state; and
(c)  Submits to the state university or the community college the DD-214 form issued at the time of separation from service as documentation that the student has received a Purple Heart or another combat decoration superior in precedence.

Such a waiver for a Purple Heart recipient or recipient of another combat decoration superior in precedence shall be applicable for 110 percent of the number of required credit hours of the degree or certificate program for which the student is enrolled.
